Job Description

Job Description:

Sequitur at The Etzel Farm, located in the Ribbon Ridge AVA of the Willamette Valley (Oregon, USA) is seeking three paid interns to join our team for the duration of the 2025 harvest. Sequitur, going into its 12th year of production, has direct ties to Beaux Freres, and its founder, Michael Etzel. The facility as a whole produces about 7,000 cases each harvest. While you will predominantly work with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Ribbon Ridge (Sequitur Vineyard), you will also help with the production of a handful of small custom crush clients including a sparkling project and Morgen Long (a project dedicated entirely to Willamette Valley Chardonnay).

This seasonal position will likely start in late August and finish sometime in late October, working under the supervision of the assistant winemaker and Mike Etzel. The ideal candidate does not need formal winemaking education, but at least one year of cellar and forklift experience is favored. It is most important to us that you are energetic, self-driven, personable, flexible, and have an appreciation for all things beverage-related! (P.S. We have a family brewery on the property ... no shortage of harvest beers!)

Job expectations will include, but are not limited to:
- Basic lab work (via OenoFoss)
- Small in-house picks and maturity sampling (Sequitur Vineyard)
- Assisting with fruit intake and weigh scale data collection
- Forklift operation (experience preferred)
- Fruit sorting
- Ferment management (sampling, sugar/temp tracking, cap management, additions)
- Pressing (draining ferments, digging out concretes, etc)
- Racking
- Barreling down
- Barrel washing/steaming
- Lots and lots of meticulous winery cleaning and sanitation
- Other general winery operations/maintenance

Candidates must be flexible to work varying shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb ladders and flights of stairs, stoop and kneel, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. repeatedly. Must be able to understand, read, speak, and write English. Must have the right to work in the US. Must comply with all safety protocols and perform all winemaking duties with the utmost duty of care and prudence.

Compensation is competitive, DOE, and includes overtime. On-site housing can be provided to two interns and we will do our best to help others find a place. Almost all harvest meals are included.
