SCOPE OF WORK: Provides academic advising to all prospective and current students at River Valley Community College. Coordinates the College’s Student Life program. This position reports to the Associate Vice President of Academic & Student Affairs at River Valley Community College. This position requires regular travel to RVCC's Keene and Lebanon campuses.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in counseling/advising, education, student services/development, behavioral science, or a related field.
Experience: Two (2) years’ experience as an academic advisor/counselor, student life coordinator, or related experience, preferably within a higher education setting.
License/ Certification: Valid driver’s license or access to transportation to perform travel requirements.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Considerable knowledge of counseling principles and techniques. Considerable knowledge of learning, behavior, and emotional patterns of young adults. Knowledge of personality, achievement, prognostic, and placement tests and the techniques involved in their use and interpretation. Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques. Ability to maintain rapport with students, faculty and staff. Ability to communicate effectively and to prepare written reports. Ability to instruct students, faculty and staff concerning counseling roles and techniques, leadership roles, and human relations. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college appointing authority.
