BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for representing the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on and off campus as well as virtually to prospective students in assigned international regions as well as the implementation of communication and enrollment initiatives throughout the recruitment cycle. Work closely with the department of International Affairs to develop strategic plan for new and existing international markets. Evening and weekend work are required.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the implementation of the undergraduate recruitment program to identify, evaluate and cultivate prospective international freshman and transfers.
  • Visit virtually as well as in-person an assigned number of schools within assigned territory to meet with art teachers/prospective students and deliver presentations about SAIC.
  • Plan, attend and execute international student recruitment events both virtually and/or in-person and serve as the SAIC representative.
  • Review international admissions applications, credentials, and portfolios. Interview, counsel and register prospective international students. Maintain contact and relationships with prospective and admitted students around the admission and merit scholarship process.
  • Communicate with teachers, counselors and prospective students. Maintain and develop relationships with international agencies, portfolio centers, sponsors, parents of prospective students and other points of contact.
  • Work closely with the department of International Affairs to ensure effective communication for processes related to recruitment, immigration and visas, and other student affairs related issues.
  • Complete required paperwork and data entry. Required paperwork includes, but is not limited to: school visit reports, portfolio evaluations, recruitment event reports, travel and expense reports and required documentation.
  • Maintain membership in professional organizations.
  • Maintain an understanding of the latest trends in international student recruitment.
  • Liaise with Student Affairs and academic departments as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or equivalent required.
  • Demonstrate strong written, oral and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of prior international admissions, recruitment, and/or student affairs experience strongly preferred.
  • Must be open to extensive evening and weekend work, as well as international travel
  • Valid US passport and driver's license are required.
  • Candidates with fluency in second language strongly preferred.
  • Possess active knowledge of U.S. Department of Homeland Security student Visa regulations
  • Experience living abroad and/or working closely with international students will be an asset to this role.
