gpac, together with another family-owned company, is searching for a Bilingual Welding Supervisor to manage the company's night shift welding crew. We are looking for a leader who is not afraid to get their hands dirty and work alongside the team being led when necessary. The Bilingual Welding Supervisor (Night Shift) is responsible for managing the combined areas of welding, jig welding, and fabrication operations. This position reports directly to the Plant Production Supervisor.
The Welding Supervisor oversees the welding operations including lay-out, fit, fabrication, and welding metal components to assemble structural forms; such as fixtures, jigs, and racking. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of welding techniques, drawing interpretations, and an understanding of engineering requirements.
Responsibilities:
* Manage and lead teams of 8-10 welders during the night shift
* Coordinate with day shift in order to handle takeovers and handoffs of current projects
* Schedule, plan, and staff the department according to meet production goals and needs
* Train new and existing employees on machinery, jigs, and fixtures
* Learn and develop processes and procedures for training and process improvement
* Monitor finished products to ensure standard of quality, including using precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
* Coordinate material utilization to reduce scrap cost
* Supports staff in productivity to hit goals and earn incentives
Requirements:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Associates Degree in a related field or relevant certification in welding preferred
* Minimum five (5) years experience in a metal fabrication and welding environment
* Minimum two (2) years in a managerial or supervisor role
* Professional capacity to read, write, and speak both English and Spanish
* Knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in metal fabrication
* LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen
* Strong attention to detail
* Excellent math skills, including fractions and angles
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
* Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times
* Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities
