About the Company:

Gaston and Wyatt is a 45-year-old company that manufactures and supplies luxury architectural millwork, casework, and other architectural products to Charlottesville and beyond. We have expanded into other markets across the country and are growing quickly.

Job Summary:

Our company seeks a 3D CAD Modeling Designer/Drafter to join our team. Applicants should have relevant experience for this position. This position offers a rewarding and challenging job opportunity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Produce timely and accurate detailed shop drawings from architectural drawings while understanding shop construction techniques.
• Work within a multi-functional team to review job requirements and manage changes in drawings and additions to create a clearly defined path of construction for the shop.
• Assist with field measuring assistance as needed.
• Communicate with project managers, architects, and general contractors to verify solutions and conditions.
• Manage schedules and priorities while meeting deadlines.
• Independently solve problems in close coordination with members of the project team.
• Review and interpret design criteria to generate 3D models for various project types and sizes.
• Coordinate with the engineering team to produce approval and design documents.
• Generate detailed drawings for the manufacturing team.
• Provide support for manufacturing, responding to questions as needed.
• Perform special projects and complete all other duties as assigned or requested.

Education & Experience Requirement:

• A college or technical school degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Three to Five years of relevant work experience were preferred.
• Basic knowledge of 3D parametric modeling software (Inventor)
• Basic understanding of drafting standards (dimensioning, etc.)
• Basic understanding of fabrication practices.
• Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and vendors.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to efficiently analyze and organize significant information regarding plan layouts, project deliverables, and administrative work.
• Ability to juggle and prioritize various daily tasks with attention to detail.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and complete comfort with technology
• Experience working in a similar setting, such as an architectural firm, wood products plant, or millwork shop, is preferred.
• Focus on high-end, highly detailed work is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements & Work Demands:

• 3D CAD Modeling Designer/Drafter must spend time in a climate-controlled office environment before a computer screen, keyboarding, and manipulating a mouse.
• Will also be required to work in a non-climate-controlled shop environment periodically.
• Must lift 40 lbs., push, and pull up to 40 lbs. occasionally.

Note that this position is based in Charlottesville, VA, and requires a regular physical presence at our location. We offer a flexible work schedule, but this position is NOT remote.
