Job Title: Carrier Sales Associate

Location: Kansas City, Missouri. In Office

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary: $50,000.00 Salary

Reports to: VP of Operations

Our growing team seeks a motivated and dedicated Carrier Sales Associate to play a key role in maintaining strong relationships with carriers and managing capacity across a variety of transportation needs.

Job Summary:

The Carrier Sales Associate will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with carriers and ensuring that we maintain a reliable and diverse capacity network. You will work closely with internal teams to fulfill client transportation needs, troubleshoot capacity challenges, and maintain strong partnerships with existing carriers while sourcing new ones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrier Management : Cultivate and manage relationships with a network of carriers, ensuring availability of capacity to meet customer demands.
  • Capacity Planning : Forecast and manage transportation capacity needs to align with the demand from clients and market trends.
  • Negotiation : Negotiate rates, terms, and service levels with carriers to ensure the most cost-effective and efficient solutions for clients.
  • Problem-Solving : Address and resolve any transportation issues or disruptions quickly and efficiently, minimizing impact on clients.
  • Collaboration : Work closely with sales, operations, and customer service teams to ensure smooth operations and timely deliveries.
  • Data Analysis : Monitor market trends and capacity utilization, providing insights and recommendations to management.
  • Compliance : Ensure carriers adhere to safety, legal, and regulatory requirements.
  • Carrier Performance : Track and report on carrier performance metrics to ensure service quality and reliability.
  • New Business Development : Identify and onboard new carriers to expand capacity options and enhance service offerings.

Qualifications:

  • 1 years of experience brokerage operations and carrier procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of the logistics industry, transportation regulations, and market trends.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and quickly under pressure.
  • Experience using transportation management systems (TMS) or other logistics software.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience as a Capacity Account Manager or similar role in a logistics brokerage.
  • Ability to learn a proprietary brokerage software, mcloud or similar system.
  • Understanding of different transportation modes such as Flatbed/Open Deck, Van and Reefer modes.
