Director of Compliance – Affordable Housing

An industry-leader in the Affordable Housing realm is seeking a Director of Compliance to ensure their 300+ property portfolio of HUD & LIHTC assets meet all regulatory requirements. In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing compliance across a range of affordable housing properties, developing policies, and guiding internal teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in affordable housing, regulatory compliance, and supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee compliance with Section 8 and LIHTC regulations for multiple properties, ensuring adherence to HUD requirements.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with HUD regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure timely submission of Annual Owners Certifications to monitoring agencies.
• Lead audits and provide support for property desk audits.
• Act as the primary point of contact for audits and requests from investors, syndicators, and agencies.
• Review recertifications and conduct random in-house audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with lease-ups, providing guidance and oversight.
• Prepare and manage HAP rent increases and contract renewals and recertifications.
• Supervise and support a team of Compliance Managers and Compliance Specialists.
• Provide guidance to other departments regarding HUD compliance.

Requirements:

• A minimum of 8+ years of experience in affordable housing, including at least 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Section 8 and Tax Credit certifications required.
• Knowledge of Yardi is a plus.
• Strong understanding of ADA, Fair Housing, Section 504 regulations, and tenant-based housing subsidies.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Compensation: $140,000 - $160,000 plus health benefits, 401k, and other valuable perks.
