Job Description

Birdi Systems, Inc. is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator with strong experience in Division 26 (Electrical) and Division 27 (Communications) to join our growing team. This role is crucial to the success of our preconstruction and bidding efforts across aviation, transportation, and government infrastructure projects.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive estimates and supporting the proposal process for electrical and low-voltage systems, including power distribution, lighting, structured cabling, and integrated communications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze project specifications, drawings, and RFPs related to Divisions 26 and 27.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical and low-voltage systems, including material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
• Perform quantity take-offs and apply appropriate unit pricing.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to develop complete bid packages.
• Assist in value engineering and alternative system design proposals to optimize cost and performance.
• Participate in site walks, pre-bid meetings, and scope reviews as needed.
• Maintain historical cost data and contribute to improving estimating tools and templates.
• Ensure compliance with all industry codes, regulations, and standards.
• Support change order pricing, budgeting, and project cost analysis.

Requirements:

• 3–7 years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably with a focus on Division 26 & 27 systems.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, CSI MasterFormat, and construction means and methods.
• Experience estimating power, lighting, fire alarm, structured cabling, access control, CCTV, and telecom systems.
• Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, ConEst, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Excel).
• Familiarity with public sector and aviation projects, including government RFP/RFQ processes, is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret complex plans, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Detail-oriented with strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a cross-functional team.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent field preferred.
