Job Description

A leading athleisure and performance apparel brand is seeking to engage an experience employment attorney on a full-time (40 hours per week) contract basis for an initial 12-month term. This is a w2 role with available health, dental, vision, and 401k benefits.

Title: Employment Compliance Counsel (contract)

Experience: 7+ Years

Location: Hybrid (Seattle, WA, USA)

Hours: 40 Hours / Week

Duration: 12 Months (From 9/29/2025 until 9/29/2026)

Pay Rate: $75 - $85 / hr

The legal team’s purpose is to empower the business while navigating risk and playing in possibility.Reporting to Manager, Employment Compliance Counsel, this role will be responsible for a broad variety of legal matters relating to employment law and regulatory compliance including:

  • Being the point of contact in the region for the "People & Culture" (HR) team
  • To ensure compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local employment and labor law requirements and advising on practicable solutions.
  • Conducting research on legal and regulatory developments with respect to employment law.
  • Partnering with People & Culture to draft and review employment law policies, practices, and processes.
  • Providing practical legal advice to People & Culture business partners on a wide variety of employment law compliance issues, including but not limited to working time, time off and leaves, benefits, occupational health and safety, training and reporting requirements, and more.
  • Providing support to Senior Legal Counsel on strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Handling and coordinating any matters with external counsel when necessary.
  • Handling any ad-hoc tasks assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Juris doctorate from accredited institution.
  • Qualified lawyer in any jurisdiction with the ability to register as in-house counsel.
  • Approximately 3-5 years legal experience.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly communicate legal requirements to non-legal partners.
  • Keen attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Good judgment and integrity.
