ESI is now hiring an English Teacher in the Key, West, FL for the 2025-2026 school year.

POSITION SUMMARY:

ESI is seeking an English Teacher who is responsible for planning, preparing and delivering lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning, participating in all required school meetings, as well as communicating with parents/guardians in relation to the needs of the students. The English Teacher will teach high school students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reading and composition, a deep respect for Catholic education, and the ability to inspire and engage students in the learning of grammar, literature, rhetoric, and prose.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in literature, writing, education, or a related field.
  • Willingness to obtain a Florida teaching license.
  • Respect for Catholic teachings and values.
  • Experience teaching ELA courses to middle and high school students.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology and innovative teaching methods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, climb, crawl, push a cart, or lift during the entire shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, including small packages and supplies.
  • Ability to pass Level 2 background check.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and effective ELA lessons to middle and high school students.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters academic and personal growth.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and resources to address the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Integrate Catholic values into the reading and writing curriculum, promoting ethical decision-making and moral development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and a cohesive educational experience for students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, provide timely feedback, and implement strategies to support student achievement.
  • Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and faith-based initiatives.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Participate in department, school, district and parent meetings.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare classroom for class activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
