Job Overview

The Events Manager is responsible for collaborating with lawyers, the CMO and the firm’s Business Development team on leveraging firm-hosted and sponsored events for business development (BD) and client relations opportunities. This role is responsible for managing logistics for client-facing events including seminars, conferences, webinars and client entertainment, while actively contributing to and supporting strategic goals for each event. This position will also coordinate firm sponsorships and manage special projects and internal events as assigned.

Primary Responsibilities ( responsibilities include but not limited to )

  • Actively participate in strategy meetings with attorneys, CMO and/or Business Development Managers to discuss and develop a strategic marketing and BD plan for each event
  • Coordinate the planning and execution of in-person and virtual events, marketing and client development receptions and seminars, and other special events
  • Serve as the point person for external platform events from inception to completion, including research, logistics, event collateral and event reporting to the BD team and attorneys
  • Assist CMO with internal meetings, corporate retreats and other internal events
  • Work with the firm’s communications team to create and distribute event invitations, including the development of mailing lists for each event, and as necessary, lead communication with the appropriate attorneys to develop mailing lists
  • Work with CMO and BD Managers to advance business development strategies through events
  • Coordinate venue reservations and logistics, including the negotiation of contracts and agreements with organizations and vendors, catering and audio/visual and other technical requirements
  • Develop and manage relevant event budgets, including the submission of invoices and expenses associated with events and sponsorships
  • Manage and coordinate the fulfillment of all sponsorship benefits, including logo and advertisement placement, attendees, signage, etc.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, the CMO and BD Managers, as required, on purchasing and managing firm-branded merchandise
  • Other projects as assigned

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to establish credibility quickly are required
  • Previous developing and managing goal-oriented events
  • Must be self-motivated, resourceful and reliable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Outstanding project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize deadlines, remain poised under pressure and multi-task with a high volume of work
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and suggest appropriate solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals at all levels across the Firm
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Qualifications

  • B.A/B.S. in Marketing or related field as determined by management 5+ years of marketing and event management experience
