    What you'll be doing

We pride ourselves on creating challenging and exciting opportunities, meaning that no two days are the same. However, here's an idea of what your responsibilities will look like:

    • NA Event Strategic Planning:  Develop and implement a comprehensive annual events strategy aligned with SMG NA's business objectives. This includes identifying key industry events, setting goals, and creating a roadmap for successful event participation to support new business and existing client relationships throughout the year.
    • Individual Event Planning & Execution:  Oversee the end-to-end planning and execution of each event, from concept to completion. This encompasses and is not limited to event selection, sponsorship selection, ROI expectation, SMG attendees, agenda development & coverage, promotion & timing of attendance, speaker coordination, co-sponsor coordination, and ensuring seamless on-site operations.
    • Annual & intra-quarter Budget & ROI Management:  Manage the annual events budget, allocating resources effectively across various events, and forecasting and tracking expenses on an ongoing basis throughout each quarter. Continuously monitor and optimize ROI for each event, making data-driven decisions to maximize the impact of SMG's event investments.
    • Reporting ROI & Analysis of Event Quality:  Develop and implement clear and actionable metrics to measure event success and ROI. Conduct post-event analysis to assess the quality and impact of each event, providing actionable insights for future improvements and recommendations for the same or similar events.
    • Partner Management:  Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with event partners, sponsors, and vendors. Negotiate favourable terms, secure added value opportunities, promote SMG client and leadership inclusion and ensure all partnerships align with SMG's and our client’s strategic objectives and brand values.
    • Client Management:  Serve as the primary point of contact for clients attending SMG events - hosted or sponsored, ensuring their needs are met, they are prepped, and expectations exceeded for their objectives from attending an event. Coordinate client participation, including speaking opportunities, networking sessions, and customized experiences with SMG commercial teams and act as the ‘front door’ into SMG teams for clients on all event planning and logistics.
    • Event Campaign Creation:  Work with the Content & Communications Manager to create compelling event marketing campaigns to drive awareness, ‘activation’ attendance and engagement with SMG. This includes coordinating and creating promotional materials, leveraging digital marketing channels such as LinkedIn, supporting outreach plans, securing positive press coverage and collaborating with the marketing team to ensure consistent brand messaging, TOV & look and feel.
    • On-site Leadership Support:  Provide comprehensive support to SMG leadership attending events, including schedule management, briefing materials, and facilitating key meetings and networking opportunities based on the objectives of the business and the event. Ensure executives are well-prepared to represent SMG effectively at all events, curating based on the needs of the leader and the function.
    • On-site Operations & Logistics:  Manage all aspects of on-site event operations, including travel, setup, vendor coordination, registration, and client and SMG attendee experience. Troubleshoot issues quickly and efficiently to ensure smooth event execution.
    • Contribution to Organizational Projects:  Collaborate with cross-functional teams on broader organizational initiatives that intersect with events. Provide expertise and insights to enhance SMG's overall marketing and business development strategies. Incorporate learnings from SMG markets to improve the NA Events effectiveness.
