Job Title: Executive Sous Chef

Location: Yountville, California

Salary Range: $90,000 – $105,000 (DOE)

Employment Type: Full-Time, On-Site

A prestigious and highly acclaimed restaurant in Yountville, CA, is seeking an experienced and passionate Executive Sous Chef to join its culinary leadership team. This is a rare opportunity to work in the heart of Napa Valley’s fine dining scene, contributing to an innovative, seasonal, and locally sourced menu in a high-volume, chef-driven kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef on menu development, culinary innovation, and execution.
  • Lead and mentor a team of sous chefs, line cooks, and kitchen staff to uphold the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations including prep, service, and closing procedures.
  • Maintain inventory levels, control food and labor costs, and ensure proper ordering and storage of products.
  • Ensure all food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards are met in compliance with local health regulations.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and respectful kitchen culture that emphasizes continuous learning and growth.
  • Step in to run service or stations as needed during peak hours or staff shortages.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive culinary experience, including 2+ years in a sous chef or executive sous chef role in a fine dining or Michelin-recommended kitchen.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building skills.
  • Expertise in French or California cuisine preferred, with an emphasis on local, seasonal ingredients.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • ServSafe or Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain).
