A law firm client is growing and is looking for a sharp Family Attorney who will zealously represent its clients in all areas of family law. In this role, you’ll assist individuals in a variety of situations, such as navigating prenuptial agreements and attending court hearings for divorce, alimony/spousal support, and child support. Prime candidates will have experience with a range of sensitive legal issues, such as child abuse, child custody, and domestic violence, and will be able to maintain composure, negotiate, and argue effectively, even in emotional and high-stress situations. Expectations/Responsibilities:

• Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgements, and orders for a high volume of cases
• Communicate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process
• Represent clients in court proceedings, as needed
• Manage the division of marital assets – including real estate – during divorce proceedings, when needed
• Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs, analyzing the situation, then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action

Experience requirements:

• Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
• Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
• Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
• Must have worked on family law issues for at least 1-2 years
• Ability to successfully represent both plaintiff and defendant sides of a case
• Licensed to practice law in NC
• Board Certified Specialist in Family Law
