Reports to: POD Lead
Summary: Clean, Inspect, Patch and Certify Fiber Optic Cabling
Required Experience Level :
• 1 year of experience working with Fiber Optic cabling and testing minimum.
• Data Center experience.
• Basic knowledge of fiber optic cable types and connector types.
Core Skills:
• Proper installation and handling of fiber optic cabling.
• Connecting preterminated fiber optic cabling to patch panels and High Performance Compute (HPC) systems.
• Testing fiber optic cabling with Certification Tier I Loss test equipment.
• Using fiber optic scopes to inspect connector end faces.
• Understanding of Data Center cabling standards and best practices.
Core Responsibilities:
• Read, understand and implement installation from provided Scope of Work documents.
• Follow schedule as provided, may shift as needed on a daily basis.
• Promote and follow safety requirements and best practices..
• Professional and timely communication – sending complete deliverables, communicating with POD Lead in timely manner via phone, updates and email.
• Use and maintain test equipment.
• Follow standard method of procedures (MOPs) to complete tasks.
Requirements:
• Able to lift at least +50 lbs. such as ladders, cabling and other equipment.
• Able to climb and work on up to a 10 ft. ladder for extended durations.
• Able to sit, stand, bend, kneel and/or walk for long periods of time.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and overtime when required.
• Able to travel as needed to Memphis TN, tentative.
