Job Description
The Grants Manager is responsible for developing and managing a pipeline of current and prospective grant funders that align with the organization’s priorities. Through planned research, identification, development, cultivation, stewardship, compliance, and reporting activities, the Grants Manager will write, submit, and manage proposals and awards in support of the mission and operating goals.
This position is on-site Monday through Friday and works remotely on Fridays.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Grants Management
- Develops and writes grant proposals, letters of interest/inquiry, concept papers, and related materials for proposal submissions that align with funder interests and Growing Futures priorities. This includes researching funding sources and information to support the application, coordinating relevant data from program staff and creating persuasive and cohesive grant applications to maximize the potential of grant award.
- Conduct internal and external research to identify funding opportunities with foundations, governmental agencies, corporate, and community-based funding organizations.
- Manages and tracks grant spending and monitors temp-restricted funds, in collaboration with the finance department.
- Develop and implement grant management policies, procedures, and resources.
- Analyze grant funding trends to identify growing programs, opportunities for increased funding, and areas in need of greater development.
- Cultivate, manage, and maintain relationships with organizational funders and stakeholders through targeted and strategic outreach, interpretation, and stewardship.
- Monitor application and reporting timelines with a grant matrix and communicate interdepartmentally to ensure we are meeting funder deadlines and requirements.
- Conduct internal education to help program staff in identifying projects eligible for or requiring grant funding, how grant funding fits within organizational budget, and how to develop project and program work plans that are grant ready.
- Create acknowledgements for grant awards and coordinate with Development and other internal departments to ensure implementation.
- Upload all grant data into Raiser’s Edge, our donor database.
- Maintain and manage complete records and files in accordance with Growing Futures record-keeping policies, related to past, present, and prospective grant- based donor engagement, that includes funder and proposal information, contracts, paperwork and key documentation.
Other Job Responsibilities- Support development staff with additional fundraising efforts as needed.
- Provide regular communication to Development Director and applicable staff to provide awareness of developing and/or potential relationships.
- Maintain a professional presentation of self and Growing Futures when working with vendors and in the community.
- Attend professional development trainings and report new information to team.
- Ability and understanding to work in a program serving a high-risk, low-income population.
- Maintain and ensure confidentiality and privacy of Growing Futures.
- Uphold management decisions in word and action.
- All Growing Futures employees are mandated reporters for suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
- Set-up tables and chairs in meeting room as the need arise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise- Minimum of three years experience in grant writing, management, fundraising, journalism, or or experience in developing a nonprofit organization.
- A self-starter with desire and passion to work with a mission-driven organization related to vulnerable children and families.
- Ability to meet and deal tactfully with the public and to communicate effectively and clearly both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft tools, use of spreadsheets and Raiser’s Edge or similar fundraising database/software programs.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, goal-oriented team environment.
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
- Resourceful and well organized.
- Self-driven learner with the ability to follow through and complete assigned tasks.
- Comfort being managed remotely, reporting to multiple stakeholders, and collaborating remotely across departments and teams.
- Strong sense of ethics with the ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to work occasional flexible hours.

- An initial physical exam and TB test are required as a condition of employment and must be updated every five (5) years, unless exposure to TB.
- Must be able to move about inside office and between Growing Futures locations.
- Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery such as a copy machine and printer.
- Frequently moves and positions equipment up to 50 lbs.
