Job Description
Emergent Method is seeking an experienced professional to support and lead multifaceted client engagements and strategic projects, primarily within our firm’s higher education consulting discipline. This is a full-time, permanent position which requires frequent national travel (up to 50% based on fluctuating project needs) to provide onsite, in-person project support. Our firm is based in Baton Rouge, La.; however, remote candidates will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience leading strategic planning, research and data analysis, facilitation, and project management activities in the higher education sector or related environments with similar complexity. Individuals must have extremely strong written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and display a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, exceptional problem-solving skills, and ability to balance multiple and competing priorities.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: - Support and/or lead a variety of client projects related to strategic planning, research, facilitation, and consensus building, and strategic communication
- General project management, including developing project plans and timelines, establishing objectives, maintaining proactive communication with clients and team members, tracking and reporting progress on project milestones, understanding client needs, developing processes, seeking feedback, and executing on above-satisfactory deliverables and work products
- Facilitate large and small group workshops and meetings, develop and deliver presentations, create tools and materials to guide discussion and support consensus building, document feedback and synthesize into tangible outcomes
- Leverage knowledge, insights, industry trends, and other data toward advising senior decision makers in strategic plans or initiatives
- Develop an array of both long- and short-form deliverables (i.e., presentations, strategic plans, briefing documents, agendas, meeting minutes and synthesized summaries, memos, and reports)
- Use problem-solving skills to identify client needs, conduct and analyze research related to topical focus areas, develop goals and objectives, and develop strategic solutions and initiatives that are comprehensive and aligned with client goals
- Collaborate with internal team members to execute on project deliverables efficiently
- Build trusted relationships to serve as a reliable resource to clients and team
- Uphold the firm’s and clients’ reputations by remaining client-focused and committed to delivering above and beyond expectations
Minimum qualifications include: - Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university is required; a master’s, doctoral, or other advanced degree is considered a plus
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in management consulting, higher education administration, strategic planning, or related experience that clearly demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities; experience consulting with higher education institutions, major units, colleges, or related units is considered a plus
- Ability to be a true problem solver with a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and complete tasks and projects with minimal oversight
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a professional network with strong interpersonal skills, including leading project teams or working groups
- Strong communication, including public speaking, meeting facilitation, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including attention to detail and commitment to deadlines
- Ability to manage projects, deadlines, and deliverables, often under tight deadlines and competing priorities, in a manner that maintains highest quality of work and outcomes; strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Exceptionally strong work ethic and commitment to delivering results with a willingness to learn new skills and adopt new methodologies
