General Purpose

Creates menus and prepares food. Determines appropriate type and quantities of food to be prepared. Purchases necessary ingredients and supplies to prepare meals.

  • This is a part-time position with hours based on accommodation requests and typically limited to 20 hours per week.
  • No housing is provided.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be the primary person responsible for meal planning and preparation for guest lodging at Toketee Falls to support the North Umpqua Hydroelectric Project. Meals are scheduled based on accommodation request from Monday through Friday. Breakfast is served at 6:30 am, typically including a sack lunch, and dinner is served at 6:00 pm. The Hydro Cook must ensure food is ready to be served at mealtimes and stay afterward to maintain cleanliness. Customer count generally ranges between 2-4 guest, with occasional groups ranging from 12-25 people. Ideal candidates will have experience cooking for groups, live locally, and have reliable transportation.

Duties

  • Prepare and serve delicious, high-quality food in a timely manner, following proper food handling and preparation regulations and guidelines.
  • Maintain guest schedules and plan creative, varied menus.
  • Estimate appropriate food quantities based on guest attendance.
  • Determine the amount and type of food needed in adequate time for preparation.
  • Purchase necessary ingredients and supplies to prepare meals.
  • Keep the dining area and kitchen clean, sanitary, and orderly, including washing dishes, cleaning equipment, and performing general housekeeping duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Able to obtain an Oregon Food Handler's Card within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to lift and unload food and supplies.
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely.

Preferences

  • Training and experience in cooking for large groups.
  • First Aid, CPR & AED certification and blood borne pathogen training
