Job Description

Gateway Gastroenterology is seeking a skilled and compassionate Outpatient Clinical Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide expert clinical care for patients with gastrointestinal conditions, perform diagnostic evaluations, and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to deliver optimal patient outcomes.

Our nurse practitioners have ready access to a gastroenterologist on site so that there is plenty of support for our patients. As part of our generous pay package, we also provide health and retirement benefits along with paid vacations and 9 paid holidays a year.

Work Hours: 

We are looking for a full-time and/or part-time nurse practitioner with NO holidays, NO weekends, and NO after hours responsibilities.

Nurse Practitioner Skills:

• Communicates effectively in English. 

• Collaborates well with nurse practitioners, registered nurses, doctors, and

other medical professionals.

• Problem-solves independently and as part of a team.

• Able to establish trusting relationships with patients and their families.

**Nurse Practitioner Key Responsibilities:**

- **Patient Care:** Perform thorough assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and provide follow-up care for patients with gastrointestinal disorders.

- **Diagnosis and Treatment:** Conduct physical examinations, order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., endoscopies, imaging studies), and diagnose gastrointestinal conditions such as acid reflux, IBS, Crohn’s disease, fatty liver and hepatitis.

- **Medication Management:** Prescribe and manage medications, including adjustments based on patient response and side effects.

- **Patient Education:** Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications to enhance their overall health and well-being.

- **Collaboration:** Work closely with gastroenterologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive treatment plans.

- **Documentation:** Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, and treatment plans, in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.

- **Quality Improvement:** Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices within the practice.

**Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:**

- **Education:** Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

- **Certification:** Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner.

- **Experience:** Minimum of 3 years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably in gastroenterology or a related specialty.

- **Skills:** Strong clinical assessment skills, proficiency in performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, and the ability to manage complex patient cases.

- **Communication:** Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate and support patients and collaborate with a diverse healthcare team.

- **Licensure:** Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Missouri.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- **Experience:** Previous experience working in an outpatient gastroenterology setting.

- **Specialization:** Additional certification or training in gastroenterology or a related field.

- **Skills:** Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and familiarity with eClinicalWorks software.
