Job Description

Overview

AP3 Transportation is a leading paratransit company committed to providing exceptional service to elderly and disabled passengers. We are seeking a dedicated Safety and Operations Manager to oversee the safety management function and ensure compliance with all safety and operational regulations. This position is vital to maintaining a culture of safety and operational excellence within our organization.

Schedule:

Tuesday-Saturday

7:00am to 4:00pm

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Management

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, ADA, and DOT requirements.
  • Conduct facility safety inspections, identify deficiencies, and lead corrective action plans.
  • Investigate vehicle accidents and employee injuries, prepare detailed reports, and recommend preventative measures.
  • Serve as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for the Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, ensuring compliance with DOT and company policies.

Training and Development

  • Design and execute training programs for drivers, dispatchers, and other team members with a focus on safety, customer service, and operational excellence.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and other awareness initiatives to foster a culture of safety.
  • Ensure all employees are adequately trained and understand safety and security standards.

Operations Oversight

  • Maintain adequate staffing levels through effective recruitment and training of qualified candidates.
  • Assist in operational planning and ensure adherence to safety protocols across all departments.
  • Collaborate with management to implement safety recommendations and operational improvements.

Risk Management

  • Develop and monitor risk management tools, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Create and implement local accident and injury prevention plans.
  • Maintain safety bulletin boards and other communication channels with relevant, current safety information.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide input on operational planning to enhance efficiency and safety.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Transportation, or a related field preferred.

Licensing and Certifications

  • Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger endorsement.
  • Certifications in transit safety or similar fields preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in transit safety, training, or operations management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DOT, FTA, FMCSA regulations, and OSHA standards.

Skills

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to train and motivate teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations effectively.
  • Familiarity with accident/injury prevention techniques and risk management strategies.
