About the role: The Senior Data Analyst – Premium Power BI Governance & Optimization will lead the design, implementation, and enforcement of enterprise-wide Power BI governance and performance strategies. This role requires deep expertise in Power BI Service, Premium capacities, and enterprise-scale administration, with a strong focus on security, compliance, and cost optimization. The senior analyst will drive workspace lifecycle management, capacity planning, and performance tuning for complex datasets and reports, while ensuring adherence to governance frameworks and data stewardship principles.

• Possess current and extensive Power BI skills in a collaborative environment
• Should be able to easily discuss difference between a calculated column and measure?
• Should be able to explain steps taken to optimize capacity usage and performance in Power BI Premium?
• Experience implementing workspace standards, naming conventions, data stewardship, and compliance policies.
• Possess advanced technical skills in DAX, SQL, PowerShell, and Azure, with proven experience in automation, monitoring, and optimization at scale. They will collaborate with business and IT leadership to define governance policies.
• Ability to work with usage metrics, audit logs, and capacity monitoring tools.
• Experience with Power BI Embedded, Microsoft Fabric roadmap planning, and agile delivery

Responsibilities

• Managing and enforcing workspace governance (naming conventions, standards, lifecycle policies). Oversee dataset configuration, refresh schedules, and report lifecycle management. Implement and maintain security and compliance policies, including row-level security (RLS), object-level security (OLS), and data loss prevention (DLP). Monitor and optimize Premium capacity performance, including autoscale and cost optimization strategies.
• Utilizing usage metrics, audit logs, and performance data to identify optimization opportunities. Develop and maintain monitoring dashboards for capacity health, gateway performance, and dataset refresh success.
• Providing guidance on data modeling best practices, DAX optimization, and query performance tuning.
• Supporting Power BI Embedded scenarios and assist with integration requirements. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to governance standards and resolve technical issues. Maintain documentation for governance policies, security standards, and operational procedures.
