Title: Principal Project Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, IN – 6125 E 21st St.

Schedule: Hybrid, 3-4 days onsite

Pay Rate: $40-69/hr DOE

Duration: 6-12 month contract to permanent hire. WILL go permanent

  • Eligible for benefits and 401k on contract
  • No paid PTO on contract. Able to take time off but not paid due to it being hourly pay!

Must Haves:

  • 10+ years working experience within mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or systems engineering
  • 2+ years experience as a Project Engineer
  • Leading and developing proposals
  • Creating and maintaining project plans
  • Conducting project reviews
  • Scheduling
  • Tracking project costs and budget, schedule, performance metrics
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and documentation
  • DOD or Aerospace experience – Automotive, med device, can work as well
  • Microsoft Project experience

Plusses:

  • PMP Certification
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Design in CREO or other CAD programs
  • SAP S/4HANA experience or similar ERP
  • Experience in Agile environment
  • Experience with engineering standards like IEEE 15288 and AS9100, especially in project planning and quality assurance.
  • Systems engineering background including requirements management, integration, verification, and validation.

Day to Day:

Insight Global is looking for a Principal Project Engineer to support one of our DOD clients in Indiana. The Principal Project Engineer will be leading the production and repair of various ground and air-based systems. They will support all phases of the production and repair process, working with engineers to develop technical solutions and leading a multi-discipline team, including Engineering, Production, and QA disciplines to repair and test products.

The Project Engineer will produce technical leadership to help resolve production issues or post-delivery failures. They will be developing project plans, maintaining project schedules and will be driving the team to a solution that meets requirements and cost targets.

As the Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Technical Leadership :

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to develop and deploy innovative solutions that meet mission-critical objectives.
  • Provide technical oversight for projects involving advanced system modifications, platform integrations, and rapid prototyping.

Agile Project Management :

  • Plan, monitor, and execute projects within compressed timelines, ensuring alignment with customer requirements.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and risks effectively while delivering quality solutions.

System Integration and Testing :

  • Coordinate the integration of specialized mission systems, sensors, and communication technologies onto various platforms.
  • Oversee validation, verification, and testing to ensure systems perform as intended under operational conditions.

Customer and Stakeholder Collaboration :

  • Work closely with U.S. government agencies, operators, and field users to define requirements and refine solutions.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure mission success.

Compliance and Documentation :

  • Ensure all deliverables meet applicable standards, military specifications, and DoD compliance.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation throughout the life cycle of each project.

Problem Solving and Adaptability :

  • Address technical challenges and operational risks with innovative and adaptable solutions.
  • Manage time-sensitive projects requiring discretion.
