We specialize in civil construction, specifically wet and dry underground utilities. Pay: $75,000+ annually depending upon experience

Job Summary:

As the Underground Utility Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, budgeting, and overseeing all aspects of utility construction projects. Utilizing your extensive knowledge and experience in this field, you will compile and analyze data, prepare reports, and provide accurate project status updates to stakeholders. Your excellent communication skills will be essential for leading, monitoring, and motivating a team of professionals to ensure the timely and profitable execution of the project. Additionally, you'll attend meetings, manage material procurement, conduct site visits with field supervisors, and perform other duties as assigned by the division leader.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Interviews and hires site workers.
  • Approves timecards and requests for time off.
  • Prepares work schedules and assignments.
  • Communicates and enforces safety procedures and site rules.
  • Manage and oversee all foreman and field supervisors involved in a project.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. 
  • Plan, budget, and oversee all aspects of underground utility construction projects
  • Compile and analyze project data to identify potential risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Prepare and present reports with accurate project status updates to stakeholders
  • Lead, monitor, and motivate a team of professionals to ensure the successful execution of the project
  • Attend meetings and collaborate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to establish project objectives and expectations
  • Manage material buyout and procurement to ensure timely availability of required resources
  • Conduct regular site visits, working closely with field supervisors to ensure adherence to project plans and quality standards
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and maintain project schedules using project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project)
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks or issues that may impact project progress or profitability
  • Foster a positive and cooperative working environment among team members
  • Provide guidance and support to foremen and field staff as needed
  • Stay informed about current industry trends, materials, and practices, and apply them to enhance project outcomes

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in utility construction project management, specifically in underground utilities
  • Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints and project specifications
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current industry trends, materials, and practices in utility construction
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, or equivalent tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Prior experience with utility construction projects in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area is mandatory.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to Fredericksburg, VA 22405, or have plans to relocate before starting work
  • Must be able to pass a background check and gain access to highly sensitive installations

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred. 
  • In lieu of a degree, candidates may be considered if they have verifiable experience in underground utility construction. 
  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. is required.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to access and navigate all construction site areas in all types of weather. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
