Assignment Details

• Location: Coalinga, CA
• Type: Locum Tenens Independent Contractor (1099)
• Availability: Full-time
• Contract remuneration: $280.00/HR - $290.00/HR
• Commitment: 6-month minimum with the option to extend if mutually agreed upon

Role Description

• Provide psychiatric services consistent with the standard of care of a psychiatrist;
• Perform care consistent with the scope of licensure and in accordance with the DSH facility policies and procedures
• Provide direct psychiatric services to patients, comprehensive evaluations, diagnosis and treatment, including prescribing and administrating psychotropic medications and provide face to face therapy;
• Provide psychiatric evaluations and care to patients housed in the seclusion room;
• Preferentially prescribe medications listed in the DSH pharmaceutical formulary, monitor medication, be aware of possible drug interactions and problems associated with pre-existing medical conditions, and at all times the Qualified Psychiatrist shall exercise his or her professional judgment in prescribing the appropriate medications.
• Implement requirements and procedures pursuant to California law for the administration of involuntary psychotropic medications;
• Provide medical specialty treatment referrals;
• Consult with staff and patients on management of medications;
• Make rounds and review individual patients’ progress;
• Provide consultation, as necessary, on unusual, complex, or serious cases, and present such cases to the appropriate clinical conference for advice;
• Develop individual patient treatment plans and coordinate professional and para-professional services;
• Provide and maintain adequate medical documentation for the individual patient’s medical record;
• Supply on-going patient evaluation and prognosis;
• Provide follow-up services;
• Attend and participate in staff meetings for the discussion of psychiatry and the mental condition of various patients and their final diagnoses and treatment;
• Maintain security of work area and work materials;
• Complete and sign applicable insurance claims, and provide any required documentation for insurance claims processing by the State or its 3 rd party biller;
• Testify at hearings concerning his or her patients and assist counsel in the preparation of the hearings;
• Provide clinical evaluations and documentation pursuant to the requirements of the State Licensing and Certification (Title 22, Division 5 of the California Code of Regulations), The Joint Commission and the Coleman mandates; and
• Fulfill the obligations of medical staff pursuant to the medical staff bylaws of the hospital

Qualifications

• Active California Medical License, NPI, Basic Life Support (from American Heart Association ONLY)
• DEA - California ONLY. Must not state "Exempt/No Fee"
• Criminal Background Check and Drug Test required
