About Us: We are a vertically integrated business operating in the Print-on-Demand manufacturing space. With multiple locations and a dynamic, fast-paced environment, we are seeking a skilled and strategic Purchasing Manager to oversee our procurement operations both domestically and internationally. This role will manage a team of five, including Purchasing Clerks, Demand Planner, Receiving, and Inventory Management, while working closely with Finance and Accounting to drive cost reductions and improve overall purchasing efficiency.

Job Summary: The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies, optimizing inventory management, and ensuring the seamless flow of materials to support production needs. This role requires strong leadership, supplier relationship management, and strategic sourcing expertise to enhance supply chain resilience and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and strengthen current and future relationships with suppliers and partners.
  • Lead and mentor a purchasing team, including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Execute strategic sourcing initiatives to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance.
  • Communicate critical purchasing updates internally and externally, ensuring transparency on open and pending orders.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contractual agreements with suppliers to maximize cost savings.
  • Oversee order management, ensuring timely procurement of materials while balancing cash flow pressures.
  • Manage purchasing of both raw materials and finished goods to support manufacturing and operational needs.
  • Foster close collaboration with the sales team to anticipate material needs and support new product initiatives.
  • Identify and develop alternative supplier strategies to mitigate risks and ensure supply chain continuity.
  • Ensure accurate inventory optimization across three locations in two states, considering trends and seasonal fluctuations.
  • Leverage data analysis for demand forecasting and material planning.
  • Utilize NetSuite (preferred) or other ERP systems to track procurement activities and maintain accurate purchasing records.
  • Oversee timely closure of monthly purchase orders, inventory counts, and reporting submissions.
  • Establish regular communication via Microsoft Teams and meetings with Operations and Sales to align on material needs and purchasing strategies.
  • Represent the department in the office daily to support problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Work closely with Finance and Accounting to develop purchasing strategies that drive cost reductions and improve efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven experience in a purchasing or supply chain management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing a purchasing team.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
  • Ability to manage supply chain complexities and optimize procurement processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in demand forecasting and inventory management.
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is a strong plus.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as MS Teams.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk long distances around the manufacturing floor as needed.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as required.
  • Comfortable working in a production and warehouse environment with occasional exposure to fluctuating temperatures and noise.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations while maintaining composure.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, strategic decisions.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Must be adaptable to changing business needs and supplier conditions.
