Quality Assurance Manager

Location: Onsite in Sumter, SC (Relocation assistance available)

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Quality Assurance Manager to lead and develop the Quality Assurance team at our client's Sumter, SC facility. This position will oversee the plant’s quality control processes, ensuring that all products meet customer specifications and company quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing processes, metals, and quality assurance with proven leadership experience. Job Description:

  • Develop, coordinate, and administer the plant’s Quality Assurance program to ensure compliance with customer specifications and company objectives.
  • Direct and coordinate overall quality specifications, standards, inspection, and testing procedures for raw materials, processes, and finished products.
  • Develop quality control plans and process control procedures to guarantee the production of products meeting quality specifications and standards.
  • Establish testing policies and procedures to maintain an effective quality control program.
  • Review customer complaints and determine areas requiring quality control emphasis to eliminate issues.
  • Conduct research on product defects and recommend modifications to improve quality standards.
  • Oversee the ISO certification process and ensure compliance with ISO standards, securing annual ISO certification for the plant.
  • Collaborate with R&D and other departments in formulating new products and establishing standards before initial production.
  • Provide technical support to the Purchasing Department in selecting raw materials and equipment that meet quality standards.
  • Engage with customers and suppliers to address specific quality issues and ensure high-quality standards are maintained across the supply chain.
  • Lead ongoing reviews of the quality control program, implementing improvements to reduce costs and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and industry standards.
  • Formulate department objectives and oversee staff activities to align with company goals.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance Department’s budget and ensure effective integration of all administrative functions.
  • Stay current with technological advancements in gauging and inspection equipment to keep the plant up-to-date.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5-7 years of experience in Quality Assurance, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong background in manufacturing processes, quality control, and metals (steel, automotive, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO certification and quality assurance systems.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team to meet production and quality goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with various teams and departments.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in using quality management tools, data analysis, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
