Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and curious Research Assistant to assist in high-quality neuroscientific research. As a Research Assistant, you would help the ThinkAlike team recruit study participants, collect EEG data, execute literature reviews, and assist in publishing research articles. This position is in Northbrook, IL, with a 4-day on-site requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect EEG data.
    • Responsible for EEG cap preparation and set-up on participant’s head. 
    • Communicate instructions to participants 
    • Actively monitor data quality during studies.
    • Manage data organization.
  • Assist in recruiting/scheduling.
    • Develop the participant screening and recruitment process.
    • Communicate scheduling and updates to the recruiting agency.
    • Serve as a point of contact to help participants find the research center.
    • Answer potential participant questions.
  • Provide research task support.
    • Gather and download stimuli.
    • Help prepare and organize data.
    • Assist in writing scientific manuscripts.
    • Conduct literature reviews and summarize findings. 
    • Contribute to new research questions/designs.
  • Content creation.
    • Write blogs for the website.
    • Create and edit material for presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in neuroscience, psychology, statistics, or related fields.
  • Experience with human research is required.
  • 1-3 years of research/work experience preferred.
  • Experience conducting and interpreting EEG is strongly preferred. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated individual eager to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a research-focused environment.
  • Ability to maintain a professional and friendly, yet neutral, persona when talking to research participants.
  • Passion for advancing scientific knowledge and developing innovative methodologies.
  • Reside in the Chicagoland area with the ability to work 40 hours per week (onsite).
