Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Immunology or closely related field, plus two years of research lab experience, or a combination of education and work experience to equal six years
  • Previous experience with murine models of disease.
  • Laboratory experience with common molecular biology techniques including cell culture, tissue histology, and flow cytometry
  • Ability to carry out research protocols from written or oral instructions by supervisor.
  • High degree of collaboration within teams and great communication ability
Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Immunology or related field.
  • Extensive experience with high parameter flow cytometry (20+ analytes) targeting innate immune cell populations
  • Experience generating and analyzing scRNA-seq datasets
  • Prior experience in assisting in manuscripts or grant preparation

The Williams Lab is seeking to hire an experienced immunology researcher to coordinate and assist in projects addressing the role of monocytes and macrophages to the progression of cardiovascular and metabolic inflammation. This new researcher will also assist an existing lab member to help support the maintenance of an extensive animal colony.


60% Innate Immunologic Assay and Experimentation

  • Plan, design, and analyze experiments addressing the role of monocyte and macrophage biology in mouse models of cardiovascular and inflammatory disease.
  • Execute flow cytometry, ELISA, cell culture, confocal microscopy, and other necessary assays associated with the project.
  • Process data for analysis, figure preparation, and presentation in lab meetings. Data will also be prepared for grant and paper presentations through close collaboration with the PI.
  • Maintain up-to-date procedure records and standard operating procedures for blood and tissue preparation approaches.
40% Animal Colony Maintenance and Management

  • Perform animal colony maintenance duties, including assessing colony health, breeding, and animal weaning. This will also include genotyping animals by PCR or other approaches if needed.
  • Maintain mouse database and work with current lab members to adjust strains/strategies as needed to complete lab projects.

The Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology's research centers on integrative systems biology of the heart and vasculature, including the close linkages among cardiovascular diseases and obesity, diabetes and metabolism at the whole animal level.
