Job Description

:

The Retail Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the retail store, ensuring the achievement of sales targets, maintaining store appearance and merchandising, managing personnel hiring, training, and scheduling, and ensuring excellent customer service. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional communication, and organizational skills, along with a keen ability to drive sales and maintain a positive store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service Excellence:

  • Champion a customer-first culture, ensuring all customers receive outstanding service at all times.
  • Resolve customer inquiries, complaints, and escalations efficiently, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Monitor team performance to ensure exceptional service standards are consistently met.

Sales Leadership:

  • Oversee the sales floor, taking on Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities, and support sales associates to drive performance.
  • Set clear, achievable sales goals for the team and inspire them to exceed targets.
  • Continuously evaluate sales performance and provide regular feedback to staff, fostering growth and development.
  • Offer ongoing training to enhance product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service skills.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Recruit, train, and motivate team members, creating a positive and high-energy work environment.
  • Implement and manage employee recognition programs that align with company culture and values.
  • Ensure all employees are informed about and engaged with Peltz's communication strategies, including daily stand-up meetings, weekly KPI coaching, and monthly Store Zelebration meetings.
  • Execute the Peltz Shoes Training Program, ensuring all staff remain knowledgeable and up-to-date on products and processes.

Merchandising & Store Appearance:

  • Ensure the store is visually appealing, well-organized, and meets merchandising standards.
  • Work closely with the visual merchandising team to design engaging displays that reflect promotional strategies and brand standards.

Store Operations Management:

  • Supervise daily store operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functionality.
  • Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and ensure cleanliness and organization throughout the store.
  • Ensure the store meets all operational processes and procedures.

Collaboration with Marketing & Merchandising Teams:

  • Partner with marketing and merchandising teams to implement promotional campaigns and in-store events that drive customer engagement and sales.

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor inventory levels regularly and collaborate with the inventory team to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Perform regular stock audits and ensure timely ordering of products to avoid stockouts and meet customer demand.

Omni-Channel Order Fulfillment:

  • Work with the order management team to ensure accurate and timely fulfillment of customer orders assigned to the store location.

Compliance & Standards:

  • Ensure adherence to all company policies, local regulations, and legal requirements, including health and safety protocols.
  • Maintain compliance with operational processes and procedures across all aspects of the store.

Requirements:

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in retail sales, with at least 2 years of managing a team of 5+ direct reports.
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets consistently.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching abilities.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and develop actionable strategies to improve sales performance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, retail management software, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in footwear retail.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, with four years or more of related retail experience and/or training.
  • Supervisory experience managing a team of 20 employees, including sales personnel and stock personnel.
  • Ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities according to company policies and applicable laws, including hiring, training, performance appraisals, discipline, and conflict resolution.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Math Ability:

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

Equipment:

  • Cash Register, Label Machine, and other retail equipment as necessary.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in word processing software, spreadsheet software, inventory management systems, order processing systems, and database software.

Work Environment:

  • Moderate noise level.
  • The work environment includes both customer-facing and back-office operations.

Physical Demands:

  • The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
