Job Description: We are hiring a Roadway Utility Inspector to oversee and inspect roadway construction projects. The role includes reviewing plans, ensuring compliance with specifications, monitoring safety, and maintaining erosion controls. Work involves coordinating with contractors, municipalities, and utility companies to deliver projects effectively and safely.
Essential Functions: Inspect roadway projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards. Monitor traffic control and erosion control measures (TDEC Level 1 standards). Verify materials and quantities; maintain records and prepare reports. Respond to citizen inquiries and resolve construction-related issues. Collaborate with contractors and municipalities to address discrepancies.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; experience in roadway construction or utility inspection preferred. Knowledge of roadway construction, erosion controls, and safety standards. TDEC Level 1 certification or willingness to obtain. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills: Experience with drainage, traffic control, or utility installations. Certifications in concrete, asphalt, or traffic management. Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
Work Environment: Field-based with travel to construction sites. Outdoor work in various weather conditions; occasional after-hours work.
