Job Description

Overview:

The Safety Engineer will possess the core competencies of hazard identification of the type/scope of work to be performed under the contract and have no other duties but managing safety on the project.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of safety oversight experience within the construction industry.
  • Commercial, industrial, or civil construction experience
  • Ability to commute onsite in Dulles, VA
  • Safety certifications are a plus (OSHA, ASP or CHST)

Day to Day

  • Conduct daily inspections of the construction site to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Lead and participate in regular safety meetings with site personnel to discuss safety protocols, updates, and any incidents.
  • Provide training and guidance on safety practices and procedures.
  • Investigate and document any safety incidents or near-misses that occur on-site.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Ensure all site activities comply with OSHA, ASP, CHST, and other relevant safety standards.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Conduct periodic safety audits to assess the effectiveness of safety programs and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to implement audit recommendations.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training sessions, and safety certifications.
  • Ensure all safety documentation is organized and easily accessible.
  • Communicate safety expectations and requirements to all site personnel, including contractors and subcontractors.
  • Provide regular updates to management on safety performance and any issues that arise.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct drills and training sessions to ensure site personnel are prepared for emergencies.
