Tax Senior – Energy Industry Focus (Provision & Structuring)

💰 Salary Range: $95,000 – $133,000 + Annual Bonus & Benefits

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Tax Senior to join the finance team at a leading energy company in Jacksonville. This role will focus on both tax provision (ASC 740) and tax structuring , ensuring that their energy projects are tax-efficient while complying with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in tax reporting and structuring, particularly within the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Tax Provision (ASC 740) : Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations, footnote disclosures, and reconciliations.
• Tax Structuring : Develop tax-efficient structures for transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and project financing, with a focus on energy sector-specific regulations and incentives.
• Compliance & Filings : Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws across domestic and international operations.
• Energy-Specific Strategy : Advise on energy sector-specific tax issues, including depreciation, tax credits, incentives, and the tax impact of cross-border operations.
• Tax Research & Policy : Monitor changes in tax law, especially those affecting the energy sector, and provide guidance on their implications for the company.
• Audit Support : Assist in supporting tax audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries from tax authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or MST preferred)
• 3–5+ years of experience in corporate tax, with a focus on ASC 740 (tax provision) and tax structuring
• Experience in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors is highly preferred
• Strong technical knowledge of corporate and international tax principles, particularly as they apply to the energy industry
• Proficiency with tax provision software (e.g., OneSource, Corptax) and ERP systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
