Here's how a(n) Solar Designer for our Solar USA office contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

• Reviews overall concept design, detailed layout, and DC electrical design.
• Reviews overall substation concept design and works with substation and PV engineers to co-ordinate the flow of information and optimize design details.
• Participates in estimates to secure new work including in renewable energy. Assist with performing concept designs for feasibility and tendering in pre-contract stages and detailed design in the execution phase. 
• Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts, including understanding risk and risk mitigation plans.
• Manage design development with external design consultants as well as the commissioning program. 
• Assist with updating drawings and specifications
• Documents field records for quality, production, labor, and materials. 
• Assists with inventory and tracking time sheets, costs, and quantities. 
• Prepares quantity takeoffs. 
• Assists in monitoring the quality plan, including conducting quality inspections. 
• Conducts basic safety inspections and training, identifies and corrects safety hazards, and leads by example in safety practices and procedures. 
• Assists the project team with subtrade partner management, including managing requests for information, shop drawings, changes and billing and workforce planning. 
• Assists with schedules and monitoring performance.
• Develops and maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, architecture, trade or a related field
• 0-1 years of progressive experience as a drafter/designer is preferred 
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D
• Ability to learn and apply basic construction principles, specifications, and procedures. 
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with stakeholders including supervisors and subtrade partners. 
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
