Summary of Duties

Teaching Assistant Professor of Economics (Faculty, 9-Month, Full-Time, Career-Track Position) at the Washington State University Vancouver campus. Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Range $88,500 to $94,500. Start date: August 16, 2025 (negotiable).

The School of Economic Sciences (SES) at Washington State University Vancouver (WSUV) is seeking an outstanding individual to teach our courses. Applications are invited for a full-time career-track (non-tenure track) position at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 16, 2025 (or as negotiated) at the WSU Vancouver campus in Vancouver, WA.

The primary responsibility of this position is to teach economics courses to undergraduate students, with minimal research expectations that may focus on teaching pedagogy or any field within economics. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and engaging instructor, capable of inspiring and attracting students to the discipline of economics. This role also presents the possibility of contributing to the development of a Business Economics minor on the Vancouver campus, with substantial support from colleagues and the broader university community. Additional duties include advising students, collaborating with faculty and staff across related disciplines, and actively participating in committees, instructional activities, and other initiatives within the School of Economic Sciences, the Vancouver campus, and Washington State University. The position offers opportunities to mentor undergraduate students and supervise their research projects.

  • Earned Ph.D. in Economics or a related discipline at date of hire
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity and issues of just, equitable, and inclusive education




Preferred Qualifications



  • Evidence of strong training in theory and applicable quantitative methods
  • Evidence of excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively at the university level

Built on a strong foundation in the core areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methods, the School of Economic Sciences has particular strengths in agricultural and consumer economics, econometrics, environmental and natural resource economics, health economics, industrial organization, international economics, and transportation economics. SES faculty and students are actively engaged in cutting-edge research in applied economic and econometric modeling.
