Job Summary:

• We’re seeking a seasoned z/OS Architect to lead complex mainframe infrastructure initiatives, including data center migrations, hardware configuration , and vendor coordination .
• This is a hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA , and demands deep experience with IBM z/OS systems , hardware/software upgrades , and replication and resiliency solutions .

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead mainframe hardware planning , configuration, and lifecycle management
• Configure hardware components: CPU/CEC, DASD, VTS/TAPE, FICON Directors, HMC
• Support data center migrations , resolve hardware/software issues
• Build and maintain environments: LPARs, Coupling Facility, Sysplex, GDPS, SSI Clusters
• Work across systems: zOS, zLinux, zVM, zTPF
• Execute replication strategies : IBM Flash Copy, Global Copy, Metro Mirror
• Collaborate with vendors on maintenance, upgrades, and repairs
• Maintain and report hardware inventory , monitor infrastructure performance
• Evaluate risk , ensure compliance with DR & business continuity plans
• Contribute to technical scope reviews in contracts
• Follow ITIL practices and support internal infrastructure improvement initiatives
• Guide and coordinate testing, upgrades , and system optimizations

🎓 Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience with IBM z/OS mainframe environments.

• Expertise in:
• IOCP, IOCDS, IODF, HCD
• z/OS Datacenter Migrations
• Mainframe LPARs, GDPS, Sysplex, replication systems
• Strong knowledge of disaster recovery and storage infrastructure
• Understanding of network and application integration
• Knowledge of TAPE GRID clusters , VTS/TAPE sharing
• Familiarity with ITIL principles and risk mitigation
• Programming knowledge: REXX, COBOL, ASBMLR – nice to have
• Must have relevant z/OS certifications.
