Job Description McAllister Towing has provided superior tugboat service to New York Harbor since 1864, when Captain James McAllister, great-grandfather to current president Brian Buckley McAllister, bought his first sail lighter to carry cargo from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Today, McAllister's tugs provide a wide variety of services to the busy ports of New York and New Jersey, serving the most concentrated and affluent consumer market in the world and handling a significant part of the 16 million tons of cargo that passes through the port every year. In addition to ship docking services and general harbor assist work, New York based tugs are regularly employed in offshore towing along the entire East Coast.

McAllister Towing is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Marine Personnel Manager. Duties and responsibilities are outlined below:
Assistant Marine Personnel Manager - The Assistant Marine Personnel Manager is responsible and accountable to the Marine Personnel Manager.
Supervises: Description of Duties: The Assistant Marine Personnel Manager assists the Marine Personnel Manager and Operations Department with coordinating weekly crew changes, onboarding of new hires, document management, and assisting with payroll. The Assistant Marine Personnel Manager acts as the liaison between management and crew personnel.
- Analyzes openings in the fleet and assists with reviewing applicants for all vessel positions.
- Assists with scheduling crew on vessels, tugs, and barges according to USCG requirements.
- Handles and checks all paperwork pertaining to current and prospective employee documentation.
- Assist crew with travel as needed.
- Gathers all employee personal and professional references, and completes reference checks as needed.
- Assists in the preparation and implementation of the EEO and Affirmative Action Plan.
- Coordinates with Operations Department to help facilitate weekly crew changes to ensure all vessels are operation on schedule.
- Performs other duties in Personnel and Operations Department as required.
- Assist in dispatching vessels to jobs, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: - HS Diploma or equivalent.
- Must have full understanding of USCG license requirements for uninspected towing vessels.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Strong organizational, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Minimum of two years recruiting for both exempt and non-exempt positions.
- Maritime industry or related experience a plus
Physical Requirements: - The ability to operate a computer terminal.
- The ability to operate telephones and standard office equipment.
Salary (Annual): $60,000.00 - $70,000.00.
