Job Title: Control System Certification Engineer

This role supports the Software Systems Capability function and is responsible for collaborating with control system development engineers and airworthiness authorities to produce certification work products that comply with the program’s certification basis. The engineer will develop system requirements, designs, verification evidence, and traceability documentation for control and monitoring system lifecycle data. The position requires strong domain expertise in control systems, rigorous configuration management, and the ability to interpret and validate certification evidence.
Key Responsibilities: Capture requirement validation evidence, use cases, design constraints, and quality, safety, and security attributes for certification deliverables; collaborate with development teams to ensure understanding of certification plans, standards, and configuration management requirements; develop reporting methods to gather lifecycle data and prepare submissions for airworthiness authorities; implement improvements to certification documentation based on stakeholder feedback; work with cross-functional teams to understand relationships between various lifecycle data types; evaluate certification evidence for completeness, correctness, and coverage of objectives; communicate risks or concerns related to the product’s ability to meet requirements safely.
Required Skills & Experience: Experience in airborne system development and certification; strong control systems background, preferably software-centric (HVAC, engine, brake systems, gas turbines, etc.); proficiency in system requirements development and tools (Cameo experience is a plus); rigorous configuration management experience; understanding of related engineering disciplines; ability to assess certification evidence and provide clear conclusions; strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to manage tasks independently and interface with suppliers, customers, and certification authorities; comfortable working in a team-driven, highly regulated environment.
Top 3 Required Skills: (1) Control Systems Experience – software-centric, including HVAC/engine/brake or gas turbine controls. (2) System Requirements Development – especially electronic engine control or experience transferring into Cameo. (3) Configuration Management – strong discipline and documentation rigor.
