Drywall Estimator

Fort Lauderdale, FL, United States (On-site)

Scott Humphrey has partnered with a growing General Contractor in the Ft. Lauderdale area to assist in finding their new Drywall Estimator as the organization continues to expand. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate estimates for drywall projects, analyzing plans and specifications to determine material and labor costs. The Drywall Estimator will also collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to ensure estimates align with project goals and budgets. Additionally, this role will involve preparing detailed bid proposals and maintaining relationships with suppliers to secure competitive pricing.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize advanced expertise in estimating software (such as OST and QB).
• Review and interpret project specifications to inform pricing strategies.
• Accurately estimate a wide range of project types and scopes with high precision.
• Possess a strong understanding of production rates, tailored to specific project conditions.
• Independently manage all aspects of the bidding process before final review.
• Consistently meet bid deadlines.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of qualifications and exclusions in any bid proposal.
• Apply creative approaches to position the company for successful bids.
• Effectively communicate the company's approach and positions on key project aspects.
• Exhibit advanced knowledge of materials and systems related to the covered scopes of work.
• Thoroughly review own work to minimize errors.
• Mentor and support the development of team members.
• Evaluate subcontractor proposals and scope documentation.
• Create design-build estimates from various formats (e.g., Basis of Design, RFPs).
• Monitor project progress from award to completion.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Approximately 5+ years of industry experience as an Estimator preferred.
• Proficiency in Quick Bid and On-Screen Take-Off estimating software.
• Advanced understanding of Metal Studs, Drywall, Taping, Lath & Plaster, and EIFS.
• In-depth knowledge of the bidding process and industry-specific regulations.
• Ability to review contracts for scope accuracy, bid amount, and qualifications.
• Capability to work in fast-paced, occasionally noisy environments.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
