We offer open-access data and analysis to support informed journalism, academic research, and public discussions on conflict. Our work is widely used by professionals, policymakers, and the public, and is highly regarded for quality and depth.
The Role
We're looking for a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to join our remote team. This entry-level role is perfect for someone with a strong visual communication background and a passion for using design to tell impactful stories. Publications: Help design and format our reports, guides, and internal resources. We're looking for someone who can bring fresh ideas to templates and layouts to keep our materials clean, engaging, and aligned with our mission.
Branding and Outreach: Support our branding strategy by applying guidelines across various creative projects, assisting with client and donor materials like brochures, reports, and proposals.
Digital Library Management: Keep our digital asset library organized, including maintaining our multimedia guidelines. You'll be the go-to person for photos and other materials for the team.
Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support as needed, assisting the communications team and other departments.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking applicants who bring a unique mix of skills and a genuine enthusiasm for visual storytelling and data-driven design. Ideal candidates have:
A bachelor's degree in visual communications, graphic design, journalism, or relevant fields, OR a degree in social sciences/humanities with strong self-taught design skills.
Experience with the Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere, Acrobat, and Photoshop), especially in creating engaging visuals for online content.
Experience in digital asset creation for social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram).
Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Flourish, etc.) and, ideally, experience in creating animations or illustrations.
Strong communication skills in English; additional languages like French, Arabic, Portuguese, or Spanish are a plus.
An eye for detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
The ability to work collaboratively and remotely with limited supervision, and a proactive approach to suggesting innovative ideas to enhance our content and brand.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
Experience in audiovisual production, motion graphics, or conceptual design for educational/informational content.
Knowledge of Asana for task management (or willingness to learn).
A background in nonprofit work or sectors like peacebuilding, conflict studies, human rights, or foreign affairs is beneficial.
