Position Overview

East Mountain High School is seeking an outstanding Principal with a proven track record of success to lead the new middle school for the 2026 – 2027 school year with a year devoted to planning for the new school during the 2025-2026 school year.

In partnership with the Executive Director, the Middle School Principal is a Senior Administrator who will be responsible for mission execution and the day-to-day leadership of the middle school. The Principal leads all aspects of the instructional program in the school, teacher professional development, and improving student learning outcomes. The Principal hires, trains, and evaluates all instructional staff members; oversees an innovative and joyful school culture; and facilitates community engagement with families.

Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership

● Analyze, share, and use school and student achievement data to improve student learning outcomes

● Act as the Lead Administrator for Curriculum and Instruction

● Lead and provide accountability for effective coordination of all the departments within the school

School Culture, Climate and Engagement

● Attend GC committee meetings as needed

● Implement restorative practices and discipline program

● Act as the Administrator of athletics programs

Performance Management and Outcomes

● Responsible for the creation and implementation of faculty professional development program

● Supervise & Evaluate all teaching faculty

Systems Development and Operations

● Oversee day-to-day procedures of the school including:

○ Support of Front Office, substitute management

○ Fidelity and Support of Teaching & Learning

○ Maintaining a Safe Learning Environment

○ Student Life & Opportunities, Discovery

● Serve on safety committee

Family and Community Engagement

● Provide Weekly communications for students, family, and staff

● Oversee family outreach

Qualifications

Education and Experiences

● Master’s degree from an accredited institution

● New Mexico PED Administrator’s License

● 10+ years of experience in education, with 3+ years of instructional leadership experience

● Evidence of proven success in high school or middle school leadership

Skills and Knowledge

● Strong personnel management skills, with an ability to hire, develop, and evaluate outstanding teams

● The ability to lead, support, and engage staff in ongoing professional development

● Solution-oriented and creative problem solver with experience in data analysis and creating and managing systems

● The ability to adhere to, develop, and implement internal systems necessary to build capacity and organizational structure

● The ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders across functional and organizational lines

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

● Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-oriented environment

Compensation & Benefits

● The salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000. The final salary offer will be commensurate with experience.
