Job Summary
The Project Executive (PX) is a senior leader responsible for the strategic oversight and successful delivery of Data Center Server Hall Fit-Out projects . Operating as the primary executive interface with enterprise and colocation data center clients, the PX manages multiple high-value, schedule-driven projects, ensuring excellence in execution, financial performance, and long-term relationship development.
As a General Contractor specializing in mission-critical environments, this role requires expert knowledge of MEP-intensive systems , commissioning processes, and the unique coordination challenges associated with live or near-live data center spaces . The PX leads project teams from preconstruction through final turnover, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and client assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Oversight
- Provide executive-level oversight on multiple concurrent data hall fit-out and white space projects , ranging in size and complexity.
- Lead coordination of tightly scheduled MEP, security, containment, and IT infrastructure installations within active or newly built shell spaces.
- Ensure safety, uptime, and compliance protocols meet mission-critical standards during construction and commissioning.
- Maintain strict adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget while proactively identifying and mitigating risks.
- Oversee project staffing, performance metrics, and reporting across internal and subcontractor teams.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the senior liaison with enterprise and colocation clients , building trust through responsiveness, technical leadership, and performance reliability.
- Facilitate executive-level communications and align project strategies with client goals, quality standards, and commissioning milestones.
- Address high-level issues related to construction progress, scope changes, risk mitigation, and client satisfaction.
- Drive long-term client relationships and secure repeat opportunities through value-driven project delivery.
Financial Management & Contract Administration
- Oversee financial performance of all assigned projects, including revenue forecasting, profitability tracking, and cash flow planning.
- Review and approve major contracts, change orders, procurement strategies, and pay applications.
- Ensure alignment of budgets with real-time job cost data and collaborate with Project Managers to meet or exceed financial targets.
- Partner with preconstruction and estimating teams to develop accurate, competitive, and detailed project budgets.
Preconstruction & Business Development Support
- Participate in RFP responses and pursuits for upcoming data center projects; assist in strategy development and client presentations.
- Collaborate with internal teams during preconstruction to evaluate system designs, phasing plans, value engineering, and logistics.
- Support trade partner procurement and ensure scopes align with technical requirements and critical schedules.
Team Development & Culture
- Lead, mentor, and support Project Managers, Superintendents, and Engineers across your project portfolio.
- Foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and mission-critical execution .
- Support recruitment and development of talent aligned with company values and long-term vision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field required. Master’s degree or certifications in mission-critical construction are a plus.
- 10+ years of commercial construction experience , including 5+ years managing MEP-intensive data center fit-out projects .
- Proven ability to manage complex server hall/white space build-outs involving structured cabling, cooling systems (CRAH/CRAC), power distribution, BMS integration, and commissioning coordination.
- Experience with construction in live or partially live environments with uptime and security constraints.
- Proficient in construction and project management software, including Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office Suite .
- Strong working knowledge of GMP, lump sum, and design/build delivery models in the data center sector.
