Job Title: Optician/Optical Dispenser

Position Overview: Our well-established optometry office in Hartsdale, NY is looking for a skilled and personable Optician/Optical Dispenser to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional, personalized optical care to patients while delivering outstanding customer service. This part-time position offers the potential for full-time for the right individual. Our practice values expertise, professionalism, and a team-oriented approach.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with patients to assist with eyeglass fittings, optical dispensing, and additional testing to meet their eyewear needs.
• Use prescription information from the doctor and patient preferences to recommend the best frames and lenses.
• Demonstrate a strong knowledge of frame construction, lens materials, and lens coatings to ensure proper product recommendations.
• Perform optical measurements to ensure frames fit properly and provide comfortable, clear vision.
• Calculate eyewear costs accurately, including insurance benefits and discounts, and review costs with patients.
• Submit eyewear orders to vision insurance plans and assist with any necessary paperwork related to insurance.
• Adjust frames using optical tools to achieve an optimal fit, ensuring comfort and proper vision.
• Instruct patients on proper contact lens care, including insertion, removal, and cleaning.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing eyewear display.
• Manage inventory, track orders, and ensure timely product delivery.
• Support the front desk and pre-testing as needed, ensuring smooth office operations and an excellent patient experience.
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient questions and concerns with care and professionalism.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• Minimum of 2 years of optical experience (preferred).
• Optician license preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with computers and medical office scheduling software is a plus.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, patient-centered demeanor.
