Commercial Roofing Estimator

About the Role:
As a Commercial Roofing Estimator, you will be at the forefront of estimating services and managing activities for large-scale roofing projects. You will accurately forecast project costs by estimating labor, materials, and time requirements. This role involves close coordination with clients, project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure project success.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Project Evaluation: Assess project opportunities and determine the suitability for pursuit.
* Bid Preparation: Develop bids from architectural drawings, specifications, and other relevant documents. Interpret IBC, NRCA, SMACNA, UFC, UFGS, Contract Specs, Contract Drawings, and FAR documents.
* Opportunity Identification: Utilize government websites (e.g., sam.gov, fedconnect, eMMA) to identify new bid opportunities.
* Pre-Bid Meetings: Attend pre-bid meetings, review proposals and specifications, and prepare quotes.
* Take-Offs: Complete take-offs from bid documents to identify labor, material, and time requirements.
* Client Communication: Engage with contractors/owners in-person, via phone, and email.
* Material Quotes: Obtain quotes from manufacturers/suppliers.
* Roof Surveys: Conduct surveys, assess client requirements, take measurements, photos, and collect data.
* Proposal Generation: Create detailed bid proposals, including scope items, referencing contract documents with inclusions, exclusions, adds, and deducts.
* Project File Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project files on the company share drive.
Qualifications:
* Experience: 3-5 years in commercial construction (preferably estimating).
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel; ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and bid documents electronically.
* Problem-Solving: Strong ability to define problems and present solutions with meticulous attention to detail.
* Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Construction Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction methods and project scheduling.
* Organization: Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
* Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
* Networking: Capable of building and maintaining relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
