Safety Engineer

Direct Hire

Waterville, OH (Travel 15%)

Summary:

As a Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of systems, equipment, and processes. You will lead efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate risks and hazards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement safety protocols. Your expertise will guide the design and operation of safe, efficient systems, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and company standards. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement in safety practices, optimizing both new and existing systems for safety and operational effectiveness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safety Protocols & Testing:
  • Develop and execute testing protocols and validation procedures to evaluate the safety performance of systems and equipment.
  • Support incident investigations with customers to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee the completion of major engineering programs or research in areas of considerable scope and complexity to support product and service development.
  • Select appropriate methods and techniques to resolve complex engineering issues.
  • Work with integrated product teams to eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
  • Documentation & Training:
  • Maintain detailed records of safety assessments, test results, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Provide training and guidance to team members on safety-related topics and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated on advancements in safety engineering, regulations, and industry standards, implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Ability to identify potential hazards before they cause material damage or health threats.

  • Effectively communicate safety standards, protocols, and findings to sales, engineering, and management teams.
  • Observational Skills:
  • Observe and analyze operations to identify risks and recommend systemic changes to minimize risks to people and property.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:
  • Anticipate potential risks by designing solutions considering multiple systems and human reactions to recommended changes.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and editing electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Experience with AutoCAD LT is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations as needed, with an estimated travel commitment of approximately 15%.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in safety engineering, risk assessment, or safety systems.
  • Preferred experience in industries such as manufacturing, automotive, or aerospace.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Safety Engineering.
  • TUV2T certification required.
  • Ability to complete SISTEMA reports and safety validations.
  • Extensive experience with risk assessments.
  • Familiarity with OSHA/ISO regulations and protocols.
