Job Description

nuArch is seeking a talented UX/UI Designer to join our team for a 3-month contract, with a likely extension to 6 months. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of both user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles. You will work closely with our team to create intuitive and engaging user interfaces for our digital products. This position is open to junior to mid-level candidates. The role can be fully remote (in U.S.A only), but we will prioritize those that can follow a hybrid schedule with two days a week on-site at our New York City location. Over 500,000 students and their families will benefit from the system being implemented!

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the team to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and user experience.
  2. Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to developers.
  3. Develop wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and designs to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
  4. Create and maintain a design system to ensure a consistent visual language across all platforms.
  5. Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
  6. Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback to optimize the user experience.
  7. Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and stakeholders.
  8. Stay up-to-date with the latest UX/UI trends, techniques, and technologies.

Required:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  2. A strong portfolio demonstrating UX/UI design skills.
  3. 2+ years of professional UX experience
  4. Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or equivalent.
  5. Strong understanding of UX/UI principles, user-centered design, and usability best practices.
  6. Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction.
  7. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate and defend design decisions.
  8. Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  9. A self-starter with strong time-management and organizational skills, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice to haves:

  1. A Master's degree in a related field
  2. Experience with responsive web design and familiarity with front-end languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
