QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of two years professional work with children and families, wellness program facilitation preferred. Excellent customer service with an ability to engage youth/adults a must. Must be able to establish and maintain supportive working relationships within team, the public, service groups, facility users, and community stakeholders. Two years of experience in recreation programming execution and supervision and oversight of intramural and club sporting events through facility membership/rental required. Prior experience working in a tribal setting preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Background check required. Preference will be given to applicants with current lifeguard certification, current CPR certification, previous instructor experience, fitness certification, Certified Pool Operator (CPO) preferred. Required training must be obtained within the first 6 months of hire. Must have basic computer proficiency and demonstrated attendance history. Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains a positive peer relationship and performs as a team player.
  • Works closely with youth/adults and staff involved in programing.
  • Leads by example.
  • Plans and prioritizes to maintain a time and attendance record which complies with company policy.
  • Provides excellent internal and external customer service assistance, providing knowledgeable and appropriate information to customers in planning programs and events.
  • Works independently in a very detail oriented manner, and meets deadlines.
  • Employee utilizes breaks and meal periods to care for personal business outside of the work area.
  • Employee completes work assignments in a timely manner and appropriately exits the work area in a timely manner.
  • Employee appropriately utilizes time and attendance for clocking in and out and schedules absences in advance when possible.
  • Employee is available for scheduled work shifts regularly and communicates absence to supervisor in a timely manner if unavailable.
  • Ability to support the facilitation/organizational details of youth/teen/adult recreation programming, facility and field rentals.
  • Advocates for holistic, family-centered approach to recreational services in a collaborative approach with various community partners such as: school, medical, Boys & Girls Club or Behavioral Health.
  • Knowledgeable and promotes recreation programming activities to all patients/members/community members.
  • Ensure participants check in for facility usage, through membership/guest access.
  • Utilizes departmental and organizational approved protocols and procedures for completing appropriate referrals to Boys & Girls Club programming, Behavioral Health and/or medical services.
  • Participate in training and planning for Marimn Health staff and community stakeholders to enhance volunteer system of recreation program.
  • Adheres to Marimn Health documentation standards and protocols in a timely manner to ensure reporting protocol are met.
  • Assists in collecting data for regular programming updates to Marimn Health Leadership and Health Board on progress and outcomes of youth/teen/family recreational activities/programming.
  • Facilitates staff and community awareness of program development and implementation and communicates with marketing department to publicize events as appropriate
  • Maintains knowledge of trauma informed care ensuring considerations occur within all aspects of recreation programming.
  • Willing to familiarize self and participate in training in support to offering an evidence based recreation program.
  • Develop and make recommendations for policy & procedure to support the incorporation of youth/teen/family recreation programming.
  • Perform daily walk-through of facility to check safety of playing surfaces, unlock access gate in the event of an emergency, securing at the close of business.
  • Request and coordinate the assignment of support staff to the proper field/court, oversee all employees/members/participants to ensure activity oversight and games are running on time.
  • Verbal, non-verbal and written communication is professional and timely to ensure smooth facility reservation/usage.
  • Maintain rental inventory and utilization data.
  • Utilization of electronic member/reservation system to ensure activities and sporting events/leagues are scheduled within universal software system.
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of compliance of confidentiality and record keeping within recreation program.
  • Ensures participants/members check out and check in recreational equipment, maintaining inventory.
  • Consults with other departments regarding recreational programming development and facilitation plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.
